While a mob of Donald Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol in Washington, DC today, Trump acolytes once again descended on the Nevada State Capitol to protest their displeasure with the outcome of the presidential election.
In direct response to Donald Trump’s continued and unfounded allegation that the election has been “stolen,” Trump supporters, many of them heavily-armed, postured along Carson Street in front of the State Legislature holding signs condemning a rigged election.
Many heavily-armed militia members were present. Passing motorists tooted their horns in support of the protesters. Few wore a mask.
A contingent of five Capitol Police officers stood in front of the Legislature.
Carson City Sheriffs had a strong presence at the protest in vehicles, on bicycles, and on foot.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong watched the protest from his vehicle in a parking lot across the street from the Legislature. He said this protest is not unlike the many that have occurred since the election.
“Everyone’s being real well-behaved,” he said.
