During Tuesday’s online meeting of the interim Legislative Committee for the Review and Oversight of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and the Marlette Lake Water System, lawmakers heard several presentations regarding the role of science in state policy.
Presentations ranged from an update on the late-19th Century reverse siphon that brings water from Marlette Lake, across the Washoe Valley and up to Virginia City to a detailed look forward to the year 2100 and the climatologically altered future of Lake Tahoe.
Kristen Averyt, PhD, is Nevada’s first State Climate Policy Coordinator and offered a 42 minute presentation on climate change and what it means for the environment and economics of the Lake Tahoe Basin, region, and planet.
