Carson City, NV – The Assembly Republican Caucus was saddened to hear of the passing of one of our legislative family members, Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson.
Assemblyman Thompson was highly regarded for his dedication to improving education and as a passionate champion of children from all walks of life; especially those who struggled without a home and those in foster care. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched.
“Assemblyman Thompson was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I have ever had the honor to serve with in the Assembly. As Chair of the Education Committee, he has helped set Nevada on a path for improving our education system. I cannot begin to express what a loss this is for our state,” said Assembly Republican Leader Jim Wheeler.
“I first met Assemblyman Thompson when I was lobbying as a mom in 2015,” said Assemblywoman Jill Tolles. “We immediately hit it off and developed our friendship even further over the years as we served together. He was compassionate and passionate in all he set his heart and mind to do. His ability to inspire others was evident by the testimony of those whose lives he influenced. This is a tremendous loss in our state and lives.”
We will all miss his infectious smile and his kind-hearted approach to solutions. Our prayers and deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and community.
